Service Charge
Understanding Your Service Charge
Our service charge covers the cost of the support, management and maintenance services we provide to all residents.
What Is a Service Charge?
A service charge is a weekly payment made by residents to cover the cost of the support and housing management services provided by Passageway Housing. It is separate from your rent (which is covered by housing benefit) and covers a range of services that are essential to the running of our supported accommodation.
What Is Included?
Support Services
The cost of your dedicated key worker and the support services provided as part of your individual support plan.
Housing Management
The cost of managing your tenancy, including rent collection, property inspections and tenancy administration.
Utilities
Gas, electricity, water and internet are included within the service charge, so you do not need to worry about setting up or paying utility bills.
Communal Cleaning
Regular cleaning of communal areas, including kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and shared living spaces.
Buildings Insurance
Buildings insurance for the property is included, protecting the structure and fixtures of your accommodation.
Maintenance & Repairs
Routine maintenance and repairs to the property are covered, ensuring that your home is kept in good condition.
How Is It Paid?
The service charge is payable weekly and can be covered in full or in part by housing benefit, depending on your individual circumstances. Our team will work with you to ensure that you understand your financial obligations and to help you access any benefits or financial support you may be entitled to. If you have any concerns about your service charge, please speak to your key worker or contact us directly.
Common Questions

Service charges are reviewed periodically and may change in line with the cost of providing services. We will always give you advance notice of any changes to your service charge.
